DESCRIPTION:
Volunteer will assist park staff at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park by providing accurate information on park resources, directions, special events, park safety, and by providing interpretive programs to the public. As a result, volunteer will provide visitors an opportunity to have a safe, enjoyable, and educational park experience.
Volunteer will be an integral member of the park’s Interpretation team by assisting in offering excellent customer service and interpretive opportunities for park visitors. Volunteer will:
· Meet and greet visitors
· Answer visitor questions related to park resources, history and legacy of Lyndon B. Johnson, Texas Hill Country, and other related topics
· Explain Junior Ranger program and provide workbooks. Lead Junior Ranger badge ceremony
· Assist staff in offering formal or informal interpretive programming in Johnson City and/or LBJ Ranch. Programs will focus on park resources and the history associated with Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park
· Assist with interpretive demonstrations and special events

Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park is comprised of two districts, the Johnson City district in Johnson City, Texas, and the LBJ Ranch district near Stonewall, Texas. This park presents the total cradle-to-grave story and accomplishments of our 36th president. The Johnson City district focuses on Lyndon Johnson’s forebearers and his boyhood in and around Johnson City. The LBJ Ranch focuses on his birth on a family farm, and his life living on the LBJ Ranch as senator, vice-president, president, and in retirement. The park is headquartered in Johnson City, approximately 50 miles west of Austin, Texas, and 65 miles north of San Antonio, Texas. The area is rural in population; farming, ranching and tourism are the main commerce activities. Nearby towns are Dripping Springs, Blanco, Marble Falls, and Fredericksburg.
