Come spend the summer in Rocky Mountain National Park as a campground host at Longs Peak Campground!
Work on Rocky Mountain National Park’s east side as a campground host, attending to guests and supporting staff.
Hosts will need to serve at least 30 hours a week to qualify for park housing (an RV site). You may work with the campground supervisor to establish a set schedule.
The RV site at Longs Peak Campground is narrow. Please include the dimensions of your rig in your application.
Trailer spots have full hookups: electric, sewer, and water. There is a 40amp electric hookup.
- Regular campground duties such as checking guests in and out, cleaning fire pits, and helping answer guest questions.
- Ensure visitors are abiding by campground rules.
- Volunteers may be required to lift at least 40 pounds.
- Hosts must learn proper radio usage to communicate with park staff and dispatch in emergency situations.
- Volunteers will communicate with park staff as needed to ensure the campground runs smoothly.
The ideal candidate will have campground host experience. The campground hosts will be working with the public and, at times, challenging social situations. The hosts will need to be patient and empathetic with visitors.
Campground hosts will have contact information for the Fee Supervisor and Law Enforcement, if necessary. Campground hosts will be supplied with a radio. No wifi connection is available at this site. There will only be one campground host serving at this location.

Campground hosts will need to work independently with little or no supervision. Work will be entirely outdoors. The campground and surrounding area will see variable weather conditions throughout the season, including lows in the 30s or 40s, sporadic rain or snow. High temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Work will be done at a high elevation. Rocky Mountain National Park has elevations from 7,860 feet to 14,259 feet. The weather is notoriously unpredictable and can change quickly. The area experiences thunderstorms, high winds, rain, heat, extreme cold, and snow. Temperatures range from the 80’s to below freezing. It is home to bear, mountain lion, elk, and moose. The plague, Colorado tick fever, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, hantavirus, and rabies are endemic.
Campground hosts may interact with other park divisions, such as Maintenance and Visitor & Resource Protection.
