Come and spend your summer in Missouri at a beautiful, vintage, quiet, family-friendly campground! We are currently seeking a seasonal Camp Host for a minimum of 6 months commitment: May-October 2024.
ABOUT
Trails End Ranch Campground is a four-generation, family-owned campground surrounded by beautiful rural countryside and located along the scenic banks of the Castor River in Madison, MO. We offer sites for picnicking, primitive tent camping, and RV campers. Campsites with 20/30/50 amps, water, and septic drops are available. 90% of our RV sites are booked for extended seasonal use. These Seasonal Campers generally settle into their sites at the beginning of spring and remain in place for the duration of the season. The daily picnic and overnight rates for guests of leaseholders and weekend guests are charged per vehicle. Firewood and ice are available on-site for purchase.

Compensation: 2,000 Monthly, + Complementary RV site with FHU
Applicants must (1) have their own RV for lodging, (2) be able to pass a background check, (3) have a great attitude and work ethic, and (4) be willing to pitch in on any miscellaneous tasks that may arise! Duties may be split by a couple. For the duration of employment, the Campground Host will receive a complementary campsite in a high visibility area, that accommodates up to a 40’ RV with electric, water, and sewer hook-up. A golf cart, as well as laundry facilities, are available on-site for the host’s use.
POSITION DETAILS & WORK SCHEDULE
This is a 6-month seasonal employment opportunity. Pay will be distributed monthly.
Camp Hosts work a range of 2-10 hours per day, 5 days a week. Longer days are expected Friday-Saturday and for the full duration of holiday weekends when the campground has the most guests on-site. Weekday work hours (non-holiday) are flexible. Historically, more hours are needed at the start of the season as guests settle in and throughout holiday weekends. Operational needs tend to slow down considerably following the Labor Day holiday.
WEEKENDS
Longer days are expected Friday-Saturday and for the full duration of holiday weekends when the campground has the most guests on-site. To be easily identifiable to guests, campground-branded apparel (shirt) will be provided and is to be worn on weekends.
Our hosts are the guests’ first point of contact when they arrive at the campground. This means that Friday-Sunday, hosts are expected to greet the public upon arrival, assist weekend reservations and day guests with check-in (collect fees, distribute parking passes), show weekend guests to their sites, enforce rules and quiet hours, maintain the cleanliness of the bathrooms, and manage any other guest needs that may arise.
Additional weekend job duties include the bagging of ice, sale of approved items (firewood, ice, snow cones), multiple daily walk-throughs (the entire length of the campground) to monitor the camp’s grounds, and basic administrative duties.
WEEKDAYS
Weekday work hours (non-holiday) are flexible. Hosts can expect to enjoy at least two full days off per week. However, all grounds-maintenance and work done in preparation for the weekend should be performed Monday-Thursday.
This position includes physical labor such as cleaning, landscaping, and managing the maintenance of the grounds (sites, common areas, recreational amenities, restrooms). This includes cleaning bathrooms, bagging ice, stacking firewood, tree trimming, string-trimming, raking horse-shoe pits, performing routine water testing, operating a tractor, maintaining a litter-free facility, and helping to schedule 3rd party contractors as necessary. The mowing of the grounds is handled by an outside contractor.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must enjoy working in an environment that toggles between solitude and extensive public contact
• Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision. Ability to learn quickly and follow instructions accurately. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as assume independent responsibilities
• Hospitality and Customer Service skills. Demonstrates courteousness and displays a helpful attitude to all visitors; provides excellent customer service by educating guests on the rules and regulations of the campground
• Strong verbal communication skills, including conflict resolution skills
• Cash-handling and cash reconciliation skills.
• Basic Computer and Email skills/experience.
• Basic record keeping and ability to enter booking information into a digital spreadsheet
• Must be able to perform manual labor tasks, and cleaning
• Ability to move safely over rough and uneven terrain
• Ability to bend over, turn side to side, kneel to clean toilets & bathroom floors, ability to maneuver 20+lb fire rings, and operate a string trimmer.
• Driving skills: tractor, motor vehicle, golf cart
• Handy-man/Handy-woman or skilled trade experience is a plus
TOOLS USED
Common tools used to complete a Camp Host’s duties may include:
Cleaning tools: Toilet brush, toilet plunger, scrub brush, broom, various cleaning products
Maintenance tools: Tractor, Ladders, hammers, screwdrivers, power drills, and various common powered saws, etc.
Landscaping tools: Loppers, shears, shovels, string trimmers, hand saws, and chainsaws.
Personal Protection Equipment will be provided. Depending on the task, these may include, non-latex cleaning gloves, leather gloves, eye and/ or face protection, ear protection

The immediate area is rural, but necessities are just a short drive away in the nearby cities of Marquand, Marble Hill, Fredericktown, or Farmington. Regional attractions include Historic Marquand, Victoria Vineyards, Fredericktown Community Market (Mennonite), City Lake Park, and the Knowlan Family Farm. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy Silver Mines, the Castor River Shut-Ins, Elephant Rock State Park, Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park public recreation areas, as well as the numerous public trails (https://www.alltrails.com/us/missouri/fredericktown). Explore the area’s spring-fed waterways renowned for their clear water, recreational opportunities, and excellent bass fishing. 1-hr from Cape Girardeau. 2-hrs from St. Louis. 1.5-hrs from Mark Twain National Forest.
