Volunteer Activities• Campground Host • Construction/Maintenance • Other • Trail/Campground Maintenance • Visitor Information • General Assistance Photo Courtesy of FS DescriptionKnown worldwide for its majestic red rocks, beautiful trails system, and the southwest’s finest heritage sites, the Red Rock District seeks a very detail-oriented, professional, and customer service-oriented individuals(s) to provide maintenance for up to 12 day-use restroom facilities. In return, volunteers can park their RV at the historic Beaver Creek work center along the banks of Beaver Creek; full hooks up are included with this position. The work center is also at the head of the Beaver Creek Wilderness area. The service for this position would typically require 2-3 days to complete. Each stop requires on average of 15-20 minutes to service. Volunteers’ schedule is based on workload. Toilet power washing includes changing out toilet paper rolls, sweeping the outhouse, picking up loose debris around the restroom, and cleaning the toilet seat. Trash collection involves lifting bags out of 30 gallon cans and placing into the back of the truck, replacing with an empty bag. Locations are spread out across the district, which require a fair amount of time driving on both road and gravel roads. The ideal candidate will be able to clean the day use area to Forest Service (FS) standards, provide good host ethics and communications to the general public, be willing to provide occasional assistance on small maintenance needs on the district, wear the FS volunteer uniform to standard and present well when in public, have an excellent driving record, ability to drive 4×4 vehicle on gravel and some semi-maintained roads, be familiar with power washers and small engine operation, be dependable and honest. District administrative facilities are drug free. A small monetary reimbursement may be available and will be discussed upon interest in the position.
