Job Description

Look for listing, “1 Park Resident Volunteer Opportunity Available for May 1st thru July 31st 2023”

Deer Lake State Park has a very popular brand-new Day Use Beach Access on the Emerald Coast in the Panhandle of Florida. Deer Lake State Park is located between Destin and Panama City Beach. A Resident Volunteer is needed for May 1st thru July 31st, 2023. The Day Use Area was completely redone and completed October of 2022 and has paved parking, two new pavilions, and bath house with water and electricity. With the new rebuild Deer Lake State Park Beach Access is even more popular than before. The park has a mile of White Quartz Sand Beach, a six tenths of a mile boardwalk that takes you over the dunes with views of Deer Lake one of the Coastal Dune Lakes of the area, along with over 2000 acres of coastal natural communities with a mile and a half Nature Trail.

Deer Lake Volunteers spend about half their time doing Visitor Service and the other half Maintenance. The maintenance is cleaning the bath house, leaf blowing the parking lot, pavilions, boardwalk, & sidewalks, picking up trash, emptying trash cans, and either opening or closing the park. The visitor service is answering questions, managing the carrying capacity of the park, and helping visitors at the Day Use Entrance “Iron Ranger” pay station.

Resident Park Volunteers are required to do a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer service in exchange for a Full Hook-Up Site. This position requires a Self-Contained RV, either Travel Trailer or Motorhome since there are no facilities at the Volunteer Village. There is a Washer and Dryer at Grayton Beach State Park 6 miles away for volunteer use.
