OVERVIEW:
Enjoy the “beach bum life” at Sebastian Inlet State Park this spring/summer! We’re looking for motivated Resident Volunteers who are willing to work alongside our rangers to maintain our beautiful park.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Our Park Resident Volunteers are valuable assets of the Florida Park Service. Here at Sebastian Inlet State Park, our Park Resident Volunteers assist the park staff in their duties maintaining the campground, greeting campers and visitors, maintaining vehicles, buildings, and equipment in the park as needed, attending to the park’s maintenance needs, assisting with greeting visitors and providing information at the main park entrance and any other projects and special events as needed.
Park Resident Volunteers are expected to be enthusiastic, courteous, and professional representatives of the Florida Park Service. In exchange for your weekly required hours of 20 hours/week/site, we provide full electric, water, and sewage hook-ups, and, of course, access to the beach (complete with palm trees and sea stars)!
Site Information: Sebastian Inlet has eight sites for camp hosts. Five are in the campground, with water and electric, and use of a separate dump station. Three are on our “shop road” with full hookup. There is a washer/dryer for shared use of the campground hosts.
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:
Park Resident Volunteers must provide 20hrs per week per site, with a month commitment between June 1st 2023 – September 31st 2023. This time frame is open for site S1 (full hook up on shop road).
Schedules rotate with the park’s needs.
TRAINING:
Training and orientation will be provided by volunteer coordinator and fellow volunteers.
All volunteers must have a Volunteer Portal with an updated Volunteer Agreement and Volunteer DEP Annual Combo Training, which must be renewed annually. You may be asked to provide a valid form of identification.
BENEFITS:
- You will be provided a Volunteer T-shirt and a nametag
- Upon completion of your first 50 hours*, you will receive a free entrance pass for 6 visits for you and your family to almost any other state park
- Upon completion of 250 hours, you will receive a special volunteer annual pass for you and your family to any Florida State Park (*request passes from the Volunteer Manager. Some restrictions apply)
- Join us in park staff gatherings (i.e., potlucks, celebrations, holiday parties, etc.) and the annual district Volunteer Appreciation gathering
- Be a part of the Florida Park Service family, working alongside like-minded staff and volunteers
- You have the opportunity for personal enrichment and experience working in a unique state park setting
