Job Description
Do you love Texas State Parks? Would you enjoy living in a state park in the beautiful hill country while making a difference? If so, this opportunity may be for you. Blanco State Park is looking for volunteers with maintenance, electrical work, carpentry or manual labor experience and a love for state parks to support the maintenance team. Your time, energy, and skills will support the park team in managing and conserving the park’s natural and cultural resources and keep the park safe and usable for visitors.
This position assists park staff with day to day operations of a state park. Duties may include, operating mowers, weed-eaters and chainsaws, firewood collection, cleaning restrooms, cleaning campsites, completing visitor use surveys, trash collection, and light repairs. Shifts may vary, primarily daytime, but always include one Saturday or Sunday each week. May also be responsible for care of Wildlife Viewing Station.
Volunteers will receive safety and equipment training and will learn about park maintenance operations. Positions are available throughout the week. A criminal background check is required.
Benefits: In exchange for a minimum of 25 volunteer hours per week, you are provided with a 50 amp full hook-up. You also receive the opportunity to play a critical role in the conservation and stewardship of the natural and cultural resources of Texas!
