Rooster Rock State Park

Come and enjoy Rooster rock State Park. See spectacular views, sandy beaches and two disc golf courses! The parks staff and a multitude of park users need you! We need a host or hosts for 4 -5 hours per person a day, 5 days a week to keep an eye on things for us. Weekends are the busiest. You will be responsible for opening and closing the east parking lot gate. The park gate opens and closes at a posted time. We need someone to empty trash cans, patrol for litter/vandalism, answer questions, remove invasive species,do special projects and mow. You get to stay in an awesome full hookup site tucked away from the crowd. Please let me know if you have any questions or are interested!
Looking for a single host or set of hosts. Days off Wednesday-Thursdays.
Purpose of Volunteer Role: Volunteers in the Park Host volunteer role serve to inform park staff of on site and park conditions and assist in park maintenance and operations.
General Responsibilities:
Monitor park property by traveling on established roads or trails in the site.
Report status of site, including any concerns to OPRD; in person, by email or phone call.
Respond to staff and public requests in an attentive and respectful manner.
Assist in park maintenance duties, bbq cleaning, and garbage collection .
Provide support /response to park emergencies while on park property.
Required Qualifications:
Complete all OPRD administrative and training requirements for Park Hosts.
Ability to travel on uneven terrain, as well as be stationary for a time period not exceeding 30 minutes.
Ability to Host in a variety of environmental conditions.
Restricted Tasks:
Perform direct registration duties, including using ORMS and accepting payment.
Performing high hazard tasks as outlined in the volunteers and Safety Sensitive Tasks Procedure, including:
Working at a height over 6 ft. or excavation deeper than 4 ft.
Confined space entry
Exposure to contaminants requiring respiratory protection.
Advise park rules. Hosts may share information on rules, but not enforce or make initial contacts for rule infractions.
