MAINTENANCE HOST POSITION DESCRIPTION
Park Facts
Champoeg State Heritage Area is a 615 acre full service state park located approximately 6 miles east of Newberg. It has a year round campground, two large day use areas, 6 miles of trails, boat dock,large fields and wooded area, museums
Work Schedule
Maintenance hosts work a minimum of 20 hours per person per week performing a variety of maintenance duties. Host will usually work 4 days per week, with 3 consecutive days off
Accommodations
One host site is located in the park’s maintenance shop yard. It has water, sewer, electricity and phone hookups.
Duties
Maintenance/Cleaning
Operates and maintains tractors, riding and push mowers, electric carts, blowers, power pruners, hedge trimmers and other small power equipment.
Uses shovels, blowers, trimmers, wheel barrows and brooms.
Performs equipment preventative maintenance and minor services and repairs such as changing fluids, belts, hoses and sharpening blades.
Performs minor building maintenace such as replacing light bulbs, painting, minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
May assist park staff with major cleanup, maintenance or construction/repair projects.
May work with corrections crew inmates on cleanup and maintenance projects.
Removes litter from roads, walkways and trails.
Cleans shop areas,& work bays.
Visitor Services
Opens and closes park gates as needed
10% Answers questions and provides information to park users in person and by phone.
Prepares reserved sites for group picnics.
Assists park staff with maintenance operations before, during and
after special events.
Equipment Used
Electric and gas-powered carts, Pickup trucks with trailers, tractors, riding and push mowers, string trimmers, chainsaws, blowers, a variety of hand and power tools, 2-way radios.
