Job Description
Maintenance Staff repair and maintain facility assets, equipment and property grounds in order to provide park visitors and staff a safe environment and exceptional guest experience.
Job Responsibilities
• Make minor repairs such as plumbing, mechanical and carpentry to facility assets and equipment.
• Perform preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance and minor repairs to facility assets and equipment
• Complete repairs and routine maintenance properly and promptly
• Analyze assigned tasks and check that the proper tools and materials are sufficient to complete work; notify Manager of any tools, parts or materials that need to be ordered
• Organize and prepare for assigned tasks by collecting the proper tools and materials
• Repair, secure and/or immediately report any and all safety hazards on property to immediate supervisor, General Manager, or Director of Operations
• Clean all tools after use and return to appropriate area
• Receive and complete work orders thoroughly; document work done in detail
• Read in English, interpret and follow service manuals, instructional diagrams, manufacturer service specifications and service bulletins to perform repairs as needed
• Follow established safety precautions when operating all tools and apply all products in a safe and efficient manner
• Paint various facility structures including but not limited to building interior/exterior walls, fire extinguisher boxes, and marina docks as needed
• Assist with grounds keeping; mowing lawns, pulling weeds, setting up hoses and sprinklers, etc.
• Respond to maintenance work orders from Housekeeping and Front Desk for lodging repairs in a timely and professional manner
• Order supplies as necessary or request supplies to be ordered
• Operate maintenance vehicles on and off property in a safe and law abiding manner
• Communicate effectively with management and co-workers
• Complete all company training (Respiratory Program, Hazard Communication Program, Recycling Program, Hazardous Waste Program, etc.) and follow all requirements as they relate to Maintenance Operations
• Know and follow all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Program policies and procedures
• Interact with and assist park visitors in a polite, friendly and professional manner according to the customer service program guidelines
• Provide for a safe environment for all visitors and employees
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for various tasks
• Help perform special maintenance
• Work cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work
• All other duties as assigned
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Drive trailers if necessary
• Drive to town for dump runs and to pick up merchandise as needed
• Drive long distances occasionally to deliver items for repair, pick up items, etc.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English to read and follow service manuals,
service bulletins to complete repairs, interpret engineering plans, designs and
instructional diagrams and to follow instructions
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated
• Prior training in safety and environmental policies helpful
• Knowledge of maintenance techniques and procedures
• Knowledge of use of hand tools
• Math skills to make arithmetic calculations
• Ability to work on-call and/or after scheduled hours as needed
• Ability to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely
• Ability to learn and follow all company and property safety and environmental
policies/procedures and rules/regulations (ISO, EMS, and HAZ COM)
• Able to work with liquids, gels, cleaners or other products needed in the job
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
• Climb stairs and walk on paved, unpaved, wood, carpet, uneven and sometimes slippery
surfaces
• Work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including extreme cold, hot
and stormy weather for entire shift, up to 4 hours at a time
• Stand/remain standing on feet for entire shift, up to 4 hours at a time
• Perform physical, manual labor
• Kneel, bend, turn, stoop and squat repetitively
• Manual dexterity to use and operate small hand tools and power tools
• Use plumbing, carpentry and other repair tools (hand and/or power) and equipment
• Work in various positions climbing to, bending over and crawling under objects to
complete repairs
• Carry, use and climb a 6 to 10 ft. ladder
• Able to use hand tools and power-operated tools
• Reach down, forward and overhead frequently
• Carry and use a radio
• Drive and operate a company vehicle/truck
• Lift up to 50 pounds on a daily basis
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• General maintenance, construction or related work experience
• At least one year of prior work experience with hand and power tools
