Job Responsibilities:

  • Organize and plan grounds maintenance and construction projects in the absent of the Grounds Supervisor.
  • Assist Supervisor  with seasonal grounds crew, including scheduling and monitoring of work.
  • Track and report hours worked by work order or project and report as required to the Structures & Grounds Manager..
  • Respond to emergency situations whenever they may occur and take corrective action to resolve the situation.
  • Know appropriate safety standards and design, train, and enforce safety policies
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of materials, equipment and tools required to perform routine tasks without delays.
  • Functional areas of responsibility include mowing, trimming, edging, raking, and irrigation of cultivated areas on a daily basis; Trash removal & recycling, including microtrash patrols; Washing and pressure-washing of public areas as directed; Maintenance and care of landscape features such as planters, barrier logs, fences, railings, trash and recycle containers, benches, smoking receptacles, etc; Sweeping of paths and roadways.
  • Construction area and storm clean-up; Removal of dead, fallen, and hazardous trees.
  • Planting of flower beds and pots. Planting of shrubs and trees, as well as subsequent care and fertilizing.
  • Weed and pest control activities and documentation per regulations.
  • Firewood distribution to all properties.
  • Repairs and maintains sprinkler systems to ensure proper operation and maximize water efficiency
  • Observes all requirements for the GTLC Hazard Communication Program
  • Support companywide environmental management initiatives by identifying opportunities and supporting efforts to reduce energy use.
  • Ensure compliance with company Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC) and all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on proper fuel handling and storage.
  • Observe all requirements for the GTLC Hazard Communication Program
  • Attends training and observes all applicable OSHA and other regulatory compliance programs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required by human resources and the EH&S office. Programs include, but not limited to; respiratory protection, bloodborne pathogens, personal protective equipment (PPE), hearing conservation, lockout-tagout, spill
  • prevention, control, and countermeasure plan, drivers safety, and general proper operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Takes down and puts up storm shields, windows and sign covers.
  • Every Maintenance Department staff will be assigned other technical work within the department when maintenance crisis occur within the company or when their particular technical field is temporarily or permanently reduced.  This job summary is intended as a guide, not an all-inclusive job description.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Computer Skills: Email
  • Supervisory Experience:Must be able to organize and supervise a crew of 8 employees
  • Licenses/Accreditations:: Valid driver’s license, and pass GTLC motor vehicle report (MVR)
  • Other Requirements: Capable of handling moderately strenuous activity

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Weed & pest control certifications
  • Chainsaw Experience
