We provide hosts a free RV pad on a level, compacted gravel lot next to the bunkhouse, with 50-amp electric, water, sewer, and shared land phone line (can access dial-up computer service subscriptions)…. No cell service at this location, but satellite TV does work…. Got pets? They are welcome as long as they are kept in your camper when you are working and always leashed and attended when outdoors (this is cougar and bear country), and pet waste is cleaned up daily. Except for service animals, pets are not allowed in federal buildings. Note on application any pets you may be bringing.

Duties include site caretaking, rental cabin guest check-in and cabin cleaning, and visitor information at historic 1930’s-era log cabin ranger station in the north-central Colorado Rockies from late May through September. Your nearest neighbors in this gorgeous mountain setting are the moose that graze along trout-filled Stub Creek. Stub Creek Ranger Station offers a complete Colorado mountain package away from the bustle of city life. DUTIES: Two couples co-host at this site. For each couple, one person takes care of guests and visitors, and the other performs grounds keeping and building maintenance. Customer duties includes providing recreation information and forest map sales to visitors and rental cabin guests,and checking cabin guests in/out. Maintenance duties includes lawn mowing and basic building maintenance, cleaning guest cabin and restocking with firewood, cleaning an office building, and one outhouse. LOCATION: Stub Creek is located about 75 miles northwest of Fort Collins, Colorado, and about 54 miles southwest of Laramie, Wyoming. The easiest access for an RV is from Laramie: 36 miles of paved State Highway 10, and 18 miles of good gravel road on Colorado County Roads 103 and 99. From Fort Collins, it is 65 miles of paved State Highway 14, and 17 miles of gravel County Roads 103 & 99. Stub Creek Ranger Station is located at 8,400 in elevation. Summer days are mild; nights are cool. You may need your heater but you will not need AC HISTORY: Built in the 1930’s by the CCC, historic log Stub Creek Ranger Station currently has one log cabin used as a guest rental, a newer bunkhouse for summer work crews,a log office to provide visitor information, and a log garage/shop. ATTRACTIONS include nearby fishing in Stub Creek and Laramie River, hiking, bicycling, horse riding, fall hunting, and motorized recreation. Wilderness is just out the back door. HOST AMENITIES: Host-couples live on-site for the summer. Bring your RV and hook up to our free host site, which includes water, septic, 50 amp and 120 v service. Basic amenities are 1.25 hours away in Laramie, Wyoming. There is a land-line, and dial up computer service or satellite computer service is possible if you choose to pay for it. Cell phones do not work at Stub, but there are a couple of ‘sweet spots’ down the road that get reception with Verizon. There is also a base station radio for emergency use. WORK SCHEDULE is 4 days on/3 days off, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is a remote, relaxed, low-visitation site, with plenty of time to spend chatting with our visitors and cabin guests.
