Job Description
Responsibilities:
To be available to campers in order to render assistance and provide information; to ensure that the facilities and grounds are maintained in a condition that will camper satisfaction: to project a positive image with regards to customer service, appearance codes, and personal conduct.
Job Duties:
Reservations: List all that have Checked-in and Checked-Out
Put up incoming reservation tags and take down old reservation tags daily from site posts
Customer Information: Campsites, Cabins, Swimming Area, Hiking, etc.
Keep sites blown off and clean for incoming guests
Pick up litter throughout the campground
Oversee firewood sales in campground (if designated)
Alert rangers if or when fire rings appear to need cleaning
Keep bathrooms clean (campground bathrooms, shelter bathrooms, office bathroom)
Familiarize yourself with policies and procedures
Report any camper infractions or questions to Rangers.
Help with other park (projects – events) beyond the scope of day to day operations if needed.

We want people to have fun and be safe at Poinsett State Park. Our hosts play a major roll in the successful operation of Poinsett and serve as our eyes and ears of our campgrounds and other facilities, as our staff cannot be everywhere at once. We encourage the hosts to notify us immediately of any wrong doings or possible infractions. Some possible infractions to look for include, but are not limited to: riding golf carts with no insurance or without a driver’s license, being loud after quiet hours (10 pm), dumping gray water, open containers, more than six (6) people per site, and driving too fast in the campground (Speed limit 10 MPH).
Criteria for the Host Program- Host MUST
Provide his/her own camping unit
Not have other employment during the volunteer service period
Participate in park level orientation
Sign the “Agreement for Individual Voluntary Services” form (This agreement may be terminated by either party. Insufficient or unsatisfactory work will be grounds for termination).
Must wear any uniform items designated for the campground host position according to agency uniform guidelines. (Individual park needs)
Set an example for campers by following the rules of the park (i.e. no feeding wild animals, etc.)
Comply with a rotating schedule with other hosts.
Maintain a clean and orderly site since most guests will most likely come to where you are if they need assistance.
