Job Description

Camp Round Meadow, a four-season camp, includes four dormitories, dining hall, commercial kitchen, gymnasium, and conference room. The facility accommodates a maximum of 120 people. Originally used from 1939 to 1941 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the camp also operated from 1965 to 1969 as the first Job Corps Center in the United States. Reservations are accepted online through Recreation.gov. Campground hosts serve as volunteers in the National Park Service’s Volunteer-in-Parks (VIP) Program.
Camp host or hostess will assist park staff with campground operations. They provide a variety of information to visitors ensuring a safe and positive visitor experience. Camp operations, Host responsibilities and training will be provided upon arrival.
Time Commitment:
Round Meadow- One volunteer or couple – June to October
We ask that camp host volunteers donate a minimum of 32 hours each week.
Schedules and hours are somewhat flexible. However, assistance on the weekend and holidays is required.
Camp Season:
Assistance is needed during our busiest season which generally occurs May through October.
Reservations are accepted online 6 months in advance through Recreation.gov.
Housing & Amenities:
Volunteers must supply their own recreation vehicle. Housing is not available. Hosts will be provided with a concrete pad suitable for a trailer or recreation vehicle. The site includes two electric hook-ups (30 and 50 amp) water, and sewer. There is a picnic table and fire ring/grill. Volunteers will have access to laundry facilities located in Camp Round Meadow. Verizon and AT&T systems provide excellent cellular coverage. No Wi-fi is available.
Government Furnished Property:
Volunteers will be issued a key for building access and a handheld portable radio and charging unit.
Uniforms:
We provide Volunteers with shirts, hat, jacket, and name tag. We recommend that you bring brown or khaki pants and sturdy hiking shoes or boots. Shorts are not recommended due to the presence of Poison Ivy and ticks.
Covid-19 Requirements:
Comply with all NPS policy and public health protocols in place at the park or office.
