ADDRESS: Bishop Field Office
351 Pacu Lane, Suite 100
Bishop, California 93514

DEPT: Bureau of Land Management

DATES: 9/1/2023 – 12/31/2023

DESCRIPTION:

The Bishop Field Office cares for a unique vestige of wild California, emphasizing conservation, education and partnerships. Our mission is to sustain the health, diversity and productivity of the 750,000 acres of your BLM public lands we are entrusted to manage. Our Field Office is home to many natural wonders including the Alabama Hills National Scenic Area, the bouldering hotspot of the Volcanic Tablelands and Inyo Mountains Wilderness.

Join us as an integral member of the recreation and visitor services team on the Bishop Field Office. Be apart of our team and share the benefits of outdoor recreation and living at Tuttle Creek Campground.

We are seeking campground hosts to represent the BLM in a professional and courteous manner. Hosts are often the first BLM representative that guests will encounter. They interact regularly with the public during the day and need to be available to visitors. We expect our hosts to set a positive example by maintaining a neat, clean, and organized campsite area. Serving as a campground host provides an opportunity to be immersed in one of the most quintessential recreation experiences in America. Hosts are there to explain campground rules, monitor occupancy, and to help keep the campground clean.

Campground hosts are responsible for assisting the BLM with the maintenance of campground restrooms and campground facilities. Maintenance responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Cleaning restrooms
Picking up trash in the campground and fire rings
removing invasive weeds

Hosts perform daily responsibilities independently without direct supervision. It is necessary for the camp host to learn the rules and regulations of the recreation area including campgrounds, day use sites, and the general recreation area. Camp hosts explain regulations pertaining to the campground, however, camp hosts will not be required to handle any law enforcement issues.

BLM will provide the host with a volunteer uniform. They will have a host site within the campground. There are currently no hookups available at the host sites. Dump station available on site, potable water available seasonally.

Campground hosts will receive a monthly stipend of $720
