Come host at The Cove Palisades State Park, on beautiful Lake Billy Chinook. The Recycle/Relief position supports Deschutes Camp. Duties include collecting and taking non-returnable recycling to Madras Sanitary once a week. (retunable cans/bottles are collected by another host for Madras High School sports programs) Must be able to tow a small trailer with a park vehcile. Other duties include visitor services by answering questions or giving directions. You will cover other loops on host days off. Flipping reserved site markers, cleaning campsites and firepits, occasional watering and may include mowing or weed eating.
Host(s) will stay in a corner, grassy site with trees and full hookup – which includes 50/30 amp service, a picnic table, fire pit, phone and internet access in park buildings (AT&T works best in the park), access to laundry, internet and gear library. No stipend provided. AT&T is the only reliable cell service around the lake. This positon has weekends off to enjoy beautiful lake, canyon and Cascade mountain views. Recreational opportunities abound. Fishing (Lake Billy Chinook is considered one of the best bull trout fisheries in North America), kayaking, boating, hiking, stargazing, bird watching (lots of eagles and raptors in our canyon setting) are just a few. For those that want to challenge themselves, world class rock climbing and the highest comercial bungie jumping location in America are close by. Enjoy popular farmer’s markets, local breweries, community events and more.
