Seeking to fill volunteer resident Firefighter/EMT positions, both seasonal and year round. South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue Fire Station 62, is a 5 acre property located within the Skookum RV Resort, on the Pend Oreille River in North East Washington State. We are bordered by Idaho, the Colville National Forest and the Kalispel Tribal Reservation.
We are looking for dependable and enthusiastic Volunteers with a background in Fire Suppression and or Emergency Medical Services. Station 62 is located 3 miles from the communities of Usk and Cusick, WA. 16 Miles from the City of Newport and 50 Miles North of Spokane. Station 62 is a year round station surrounded by beautiful mountains and stunning views of the Pend Oreille River. Opportunities abound for viewing wildlife, photography, fishing, camping, boating, hiking, UTV/ATV trails, snow skiing and bike riding.
Duties as a Volunteer include responding to EMS call (80%), Wildland Fire calls (15%) and Structure Fires (5%). Station 62 responds to approximately 180 calls annually. Volunteers are expected to work at least two12 hour station shifts per week. Additional VOD/Stipend shifts are available if desired. Volunteers are also encouraged to respond to off shift calls as needed, if available. A campsite with full hookups is provided in exchange for volunteer services. Free laundry facilities are on site.
Minimum requirements for a resident is a Firefighter 1 certification or equivalent. A current Washington EMT-B, or greater certification at the time of hirer. Spouses or partners are encouraged to also be a volunteer as a Firefighter or in various support roles. Pets are not allowed. Visitors must be approved by the Fire Chief. A background check will be required and will be provided by SPOFR.
