Ramble Campground Host – Ramble at Great Sand Dunes National Park
About Ramble:
Ramble’s mission is to enable awesome experiences camping outdoors with family and friends. At Ramble, we combine a love for the outdoors with a deep understanding of technology and customer data analysis, disrupting the traditional “parking lot”-style campground industry by creating a better nature-oriented camping experience and making it available to all. Our goal is to ultimately become the largest campground operator in the country.
Overview and Impact:
Our campground in Mosca, CO is entirely self-service and spread over 320 acres, so the camp host’s main priority is to oversee the park and make sure the field team is on task and customers are happy. The campground host will maintain a list of arrivals/departures, answer basic questions, assist visitors in making reservations, and make sure each site is ready for the next camper by overseeing housekeeping and maintenance, while occasionally stepping in for cleaning as needed. Other duties include making sure daily services and deliveries are scheduled, keeping facilities clean and organized and checking in with guests each evening to make sure they are satisfied with their campsites.
There are no electric hookups at any campsite. Hosts’ sites include a sheltered picnic structure, kitchen space, grill and stove, fire ring, tent pad and storage space. Bathroom facilities include flushing toilets and outdoor showers which are located across the host campsite.
Camp Host Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality customer service to all visitors.
- Answer basic informational questions about the park, area, and recreational opportunities.
- Inform visitors of camping rules and regulations.
- Inform Ramble HQ when rules and regulations are broken.
- Keep track of campground arrivals and departures and assign schedules to the housekeeping/groundskeeping team.
- Regularly inspect campground facilities, campsites, multi use path, welcome center and disc golf course.
- Pick up litter throughout the campground.
- Light restrooms cleaning: TP stocking, sanitation
- Inform maintenance staff of any issues that require attention above the host’s responsibility.
- Ability to use the Zendesk ticketing system for these requests.
- Prepare campsites for VIP guests and ambassadors.
- Serve as an ambassador for Rambles mission.
- Understand the commitments and duties of assignments before accepting them and fulfill them to the best of your abilities.
- Observe all policies and safety procedures set forth by Ramble staff.
- Be prompt and reliable in reporting for work. Notify Ramble as soon as possible if you are unable to work.
- Wear the Ramble staff shirt or hat in an appropriate and professional manner.
- Use proper tools and equipment (provided) to safely perform duties.
- Maintain a professional campsite appearance.
- Keep an accurate record of the hours you worked on a project and report those hours in a timely manner directly in Rippling.
Time Commitment
- 2023: ASAP- October 17th
- 2024: Memorial Day through October 20th with a week prior for training.
- At least 20 hours per week of paid work; staying at the host campsite is free.
- Most hours will be on weekends and holidays, as those are the busiest times.
- Hosts manage and enter their own time in an online system.
- Preference is given to returning hosts in good standing.
- Ramble is fine if you have another freelance/contracting job.
- We have starlink wifi- so you can access wifi from your campsite.
Qualifications
- Must be able to provide professional, welcoming customer service.
- Most of this position is interacting with customers.
- A passion for outdoor recreation and nature will help host connect with customers
- Self-motivated, able to self manage
- Good, proactive communication skills

Training, and Preparation:
- In-person and in-field training is provided by Ramble staff.
Additional information:
- Hosting opportunities are open to individuals as well as couples/families/groups. More hands makes lighter work and happier hosts. Hosts must fit in a single campsite which can accommodate 6 guests and two tent pads.
- Hosts are provided with any tools/equipment needed to do their job (ex. shovel, trash bin, garden cart, gloves, uniform shirt, uniform hat)
Protocols, Procedures, and Logistics:
- Camping units must be self-sufficient.
- Ramble has access to solar power and water, but is mainly off-grid.
Must pass a criminal and driving history review.
