DESCRIPTION:
The Spring Recreation Site, or Spring Rec for short, sits on the banks of Brownlee Reservoir, a 52-mile-long reservoir on the Snake River. The reservoir is known for its large channel catfish, abundant crappie, and good bass fishing. The RV and tent camping sites, boat launch, boarding dock, and fish cleaning station all create a comfortable camping and fishing experience. Spring Rec is ideal for the angler, those who love the outdoors, or for those just looking for a scenic getaway.
Spring Rec features a small number of group and/or individual campsites on a first-come-first-served basis. This day-use area and campground features many amenities, including several vault toilets, drinking water, trash collection, fire pits, and picnic tables, and every site has great views of the reservoir. A developed boat ramp with trailer parking areas attracts boaters and anglers throughout the spring and summer months. The reservoir is generally full by the end of May, but a drawdown begins in July and water levels drop dramatically throughout the late summer and fall. This is a fee site, with a stay limit for campers of 14 days. There are no RV hookups available.
Worksite:

The host shall provide their own lodging (RV or camp trailer) and are expected to live on site. Electricity is provided. There are currently no other hook-ups available on-site. Storage shed with lock available for use. Pets are allowed but must be leashed. Cell service can be spotty.

Length of Commitment:
Volunteers will commit to serving 3-6 months during the spring and summer, with a commitment of 32 hours per week. Working hours are flexible, but volunteers are expected to work weekends and holidays. Start and end dates are flexible, but preference is between April 1 and July 31.
Benefits:
Serving as a campground host provides an opportunity to live in a unique place and an opportunity to be part of an amazing team that helps manage public lands. Along with free camping, a reimbursement of $160 per week will be provided. Reimbursements are paid monthly, but there can be extended delays in processing. Reimbursements are not stipends or salaries, and hosts should NOT rely on them to pay for personal expenses.
