DEPT:  Bureau of Land Management

DATES: 10/15/2023 – 4/14/2024

DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking hosts to represent the BLM in a professional and courteous manner at Riverview Campground near Safford, AZ. Hosts explain campground rules, monitor occupancy, and help keep the campground clean. Hosts interact regularly with the public and need to be available to visitors on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Hosts are expected to set a positive example by maintaining a clean and organized campsite area. Hosting duties include campground fee compliance, monitoring facilities, and performing cleaning and maintenance. Hosts will report needed repairs and incidents to BLM staff. The season runs from mid-October to mid-April.

Campground hosts are responsible for assisting the BLM with the maintenance of campground restrooms and campground facilities, as well as caring for the greater conservation area. Hosts perform daily responsibilities independently without direct supervision. It is necessary for the camp host to learn the rules and regulations of the Gila Box RNCA including campgrounds, day use sites, river travel, and the general area. Hosts should be prepared to endure inclement weather including rain, high winds, dust, and heat. Customer service skills and the ability to respectfully resolve minor issues are required. Camp hosts will not be required to handle any law enforcement issues.

Location: Riverview campground has 13 sites with no hook-ups and sits adjacent to several day use areas and a walking trail. The site has great views of the Gila River Bluffs and access to the Gila River. City water is available at the campground. Host site is separate from the main campground and includes a large permanent shade structure along with extended concrete pad and a picnic table.

Housing: Hosts must provide their own RV or similar. Heating for winter nights and air conditioning for late spring are recommended. Hosts provide their own generators and their own transport vehicle for campground needs and obtaining personal provisions. There is a washing machine available for host use.

Electricity & Propane: The Safford BLM will provide the host with propane and fuel for moderate generator use and patrolling duties.

Water: There is water year-round and a hook-up on site.

Precipitation: Average annual rainfall is around 9.5 inches. Winters are mostly sunny, though it can rain and even snow on occasion.

Temperatures: Spring and fall day temperatures range from 70s-80s and nights from 45-60 degrees. Winters range from 60-70 degrees during the day with nighttime temperatures between 30-40 degrees.
