DESCRIPTION:
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks have Campground Host positions available in each district of the parks. In Kings Canyon, we are looking for hosts in the Grant Grove and Cedar Grove areas of the park and in Sequoia, we are looking for hosts in Lodgepole, Mineral King, and the Foothills. Most campgrounds are open from May through September, although one campground located in the Foothills and one in Grant Grove are open year-round.
Duties:
· Assist with campground and kiosk operations.
· Rove campground and educate campers on park and campground regulations, including proper bear-proof food storage.
· Provide information to visitors on recreational opportunities in the park and surrounding areas, including the evening campfire programs and other Ranger programs.
· Provide information to visitors regarding the reservation service, recreation.gov used for reservations in the National Park system.
· Actively participate in the park wide safety program; inform visitors of potential dangers in the park, with a special emphasis on river safety.
· Perform minor maintenance when directed, if qualified; report all other maintenance problems to the campground supervisor.
· Gather information on visitor use and keep the supervisor informed of problems in the campground.
· Notifies supervisor or law enforcement rangers if illegal activity is observed.
· Complete other duties or tasks as may be mutually agreed upon.
Working Conditions: Hosts will work a minimum of 32 hours per week, which includes weekends. Hosts will have two consecutive weekdays off. Shifts will depend upon campground needs. Volunteer uniforms and park radios are provided. In return for your volunteer work, you will be given a free campsite. You will need to provide a recreational living unit. Amenities in the host sites vary from dry camping to water and electric hookups.
Area: Campgrounds range from the foothills where summers are hot and dry to approximately 7,000 feet elevation where summer days are warm and comfortable with cool nights. The majority of work is performed outdoors in the campgrounds. Location is in prime black bear habitat, so encounters with bears are likely. The closest metropolitan areas are Fresno and Visalia.

Azalea & Potwisha campground 30 amps water and sewer
Sheep Creek campground 15 amps water and sewer
Lodgepole & Sunset campgrounds 30 amps water no sewer
Dorst campground water, no sewer or electric
Mineral King van only dry camping
