DESCRIPTION:
Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery is looking for one or two people to assist the maintenance program through the busy summer months. Volunteers will help maintain the hatchery grounds, facilities, and equipment, they may also assist with fish culture activities and visitor services depending on time of the year and staffing needs. The Hatchery relies heavily on these volunteers to mow the lawns, maintain the irrigation system, and perform small engine preventative maintenance tasks. Other tasks include trash removal, painting, working with hand tools, watering plants, minor plumbing repairs, working with and operating pumps. If the volunteer(s) possess the required skills, they may be asked to perform oil changes, tire changes/rotations, minor electrical work, system troubleshooting, equipment operation, and other maintenance related tasks. The individual(s) will also assist with maintaining the Hatchery’s system of trails, boat launch access, setting out notice and parking signs, and assist Hatchery maintenance staff on large projects. The volunteer(s) will be able to park any size RV on a trailer pad with full hookups through the duration of their volunteer work. Schedule is 24 hours/ week, working during daylight hours, but days of the week are flexible.
