DESCRIPTION:

The campground host is stationed at the Ponderosa campground in Curecanti National Recreation Area near Gunnison, Colorado. Hosts work 32 hours per week and are managed by the National Park Service. The hours may be divided between a couple. Uniform shirts are provided and required. Shorter length seasons will be considered. Hosts are front-line National Park Service ambassadors who provide a welcoming environment to visitors. Start and end dates are flexible, but should start before Memorial Day weekend and end after Labor Day weekend.

Ponderosa Campground is located off Colorado route 92 and seven miles of a well-maintained gravel road, 32 miles west of Gunnison, CO. It is the most remote and scenic of the Curecanti campgrounds, located on an arm of Blue Mesa Reservoir. Amenities include 15A electric (solar-powered), water and sewer. Expect rustic conditions. Camp host must be able to sustain on 15A electricity, and is responsible for the generation of any additional electricity. Cell phone reception varies by carrier. The host camper should not be longer than 22 feet due to site conditions and electrical limitations. The 28 campsites contain trees and incredible views of pinnacles, mountains, and mesas.
