Camp Host

This is an early announcement for the 2024 campground hosts for the Desert View Campground on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Assistance is needed from April 14, 2024 through October 16, 2024. This position requires a minimum of 60 hours a week and 6-month commitment. A 45 ft trailer/RV site with electricity, propane, sewer and water is provided. Volunteer has to provide their own trailer/RV. Days off may vary and you will be required to work on major holiday weekends.

Major Duties

• Maintain own campsite in accordance with all park regulations and set a good example for other campers.
• Show up for scheduled hours and days. Work schedule will be discussed with supervisor upon hiring.
• Greet and register campers as they enter the campground, keep accurate records, interpret campground regulations and directions, and assist the camper as best as possible.
• Perform minor maintenance in the campground and kiosk. Maintain a neat, tidy, and organized work area.
• Report any hazards in or out of the campground to an immediate supervisor.
• Periodically make rounds in the campground to update records and remind campers of rules and regulations. Any law enforcement issues will be reported to park rangers.
• Clean 50-80 firepits daily depending on which campground assigned to and collect litter.
• Occasionally assisting visitors one to two hours after sunset.
• Assist with general restroom maintenance.
• Drive a government vehicle e.g., truck or golf cart.
