Job Description

This position is a shared position with another set of volunteers sharing the job duties, however, there will be a set schedule that will allow for each set of volunteers to work independently of one another. Volunteers working as a pair can expect to provide at least 42 hours of volunteer service per week (21 hours per person). Working as a couple is not required. In addition to the weekly volunteer hours, attendants will be required to be in their respective campgrounds on duty through holiday weekends if the holiday falls on their 7 day stretch. A set schedule of 7 days on and 7 days off, working 3 hours each day (per person) is expected. This schedule will allow volunteer(s) to have every other weekend off. Attendants will perform specific duties daily to implement the reservation program in accordance with established and provided procedures. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: maintaining current on-site records; posting each campsite with incoming camper information and tags; checking site availability for customers; check-in/out customers; performing no-show procedures; verifying America the Beautiful cards; patrolling the campground; addressing violations of Corps campground rules and/or policies; and keep fee station/tollhouse hours. During the hours the Campground Fee Station is open, the Attendants shall greet everyone as they approach the campground fee station and give them a copy of the campground regulations and map. Attendants will help to promote and assist rangers in providing interpretive programs within the campground. Attendants will promote water safety to all campers of all ages as they make their patrols through the campground or while interacting with campers at the fee station. Attendants will be in charge of the campground’s loaner life jacket program. Attendants will provide minor trail maintenance to the nature trails within the campground if willing and physically able.
