Do you have a passion for working in the outdoors? If so, Don’s Cab-Inns Campground within Explore Park of Roanoke, VA is currently seeking a permanent part – time campground Host/Inn keeper. The campground host is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the campground in accordance with the company’s vision, including ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining camping units as clean and ready for occupancy. The perfect candidate will have a passion for guest services. We are seeking a proactive, dependable and industrious self-starter who is also able to accept direction and carry out the duties in accordance with the owners plans. The ideal candidate will be able to live on site in housing provided as a benefit to the person hired for this position(see below). The campground host will also be empowered to make decisions and handle tasks when the campground owners are not personally available.
Qualifications: Must be 21years of age, have 2+ years in a leadership role, possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Experience in the hospitality industry or in property management is highly preferred. You must have physical abilities as detailed below.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
● Assist with guest reservations and collect payments for items sold in the campground store.
● Through training, gain familiarity with the park booking software.
● Prioritize the campground guests and display the upmost of courtesy and helpfulness during all interactions with them.
● Gain an understanding of the local market, including awareness of events & hot spots determining how to best utilize that information for marketing our campground through social media and other avenues.
● Responsible for procuring supplies and items sold in the campground store. ● Regularly walk or drive the campground, greeting and conversing with guests and making sure the grounds are clean and being used in accordance with campground rules. Maintain an immaculate appearance of the campground including the office/store, rental units, grounds and on-site personal housing of the campground host.
● Ensure safety for all guests through enforcement of company and & park policies.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

● Ability to establish rapport and successful working relationships with park guests and other Explore Park staff.
● Use good professional judgment, honesty, and integrity in decision-making.
● Self-motivated, detailed and goal-oriented with strong organizational skills.
● Ability to handle conflict in a constructive manner and work well under pressure.
● Possess basic computer literacy and willing to learn reservation software.
● Demonstrated passion and understanding of the RV lifestyle and the hospitality industry.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
● Moderate physical activity required – frequent lifting and moving of fire wood and other items, weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to climb a ladder,
● Required to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods of time.
● Will be required to work in all weather conditions including in extra hot and cold temperatures.
● Regular cleaning of indoor and outdoor spaces, including sweeping, mopping, pressure washing, wiping surfaces which requires bending, stooping, crouching, reaching and climbing.
● Use of campground vehicles – utility cart, and various other related equipment.
● Work will occur across uneven terrain, and wet ground which may present potential slipping and tripping hazards.
Required Licensing: Valid Driver’s license required.
Work schedule:
The campground is open 7 days a week days a week, 365 days a year.
● Daily work hours can range from 4 to ten hours per day.
● Work shifts are required Wednesday through Sunday. Days off are Monday and Tuesdays. This is to include some “on call” duties. Schedule will include weekends, evenings and holidays.
Compensation: Salary ($15/hr)(34-40 hrs/week), on-site housing provided(35′ 5th wheel trailer) no space for your own RV. Would have to store somewhere else.
