Job Description
The City of Glendale Community Services & Parks Department is accepting applications for a resident Volunteer Park Host position as described below.
The Volunteer Park Host is responsible for performing duties associated with facility reservations and park opening and closing at Deukmejian Wilderness Park. They must provide their own Recreational Vehicle (RV) to live in at the site.

Agreement Terms:
Agreement is for a one (1) year period.

City Compensation:
The City pays for utilities and provides full hookup to the RV. The City does not pay for telephone, internet or cable television costs.
Caretaker Requirements:
1) Must purchase and maintain renter’s insurance and vehicle insurance to cover the personal possessions of site host, family members and guests; and
2) Must be able to perform physical duties including light maintenance on restrooms, opening and closing gates, and walking the hilly terrain of the facility.
Caretaker Duties:
To fulfill the agreement, the resident Park Host will be responsible for servicing facility reservations, class reservations and other assigned maintenance tasks for a minimum of thirty (30) work hours per month. The work hours will be after normal working hours. A sample of the “Park Host Job Description” is outlined below. All duties will be outlined in the Park Host Agreement.
1) The Park Host must be available to perform job duties at a minimum on Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., including all weekends and most holidays;
2) Provide diligent surveillance of the facility;
3) Routinely patrol the facility;
4) Provide maintenance and janitorial duties at park facility and/or building;
5) Perform landscape maintenance as directed by City;
6) Meet and greet Reservation Clients for which the Park Host is responsible.
7) Provide potential Reservation Clients with information on how to reserve the facility.
8) Be generally accessible to a Reservation Client while the client is using the park.
9) Be generally available to greet Park visitors and provide information about the Park’s natural and human history, trails, and programs.
10) Educate park visitors about Park rules and the protection of natural resources.
11) Maintain a neat and clean appearance and be courteous and professional as the City’s representative onsite.
12) Wear a City-issued identification card on jacket or garment, or wear city issued shirt or vest identifying the host as an official city representative.
13) Act as the liaison between the public and the Department.
14) Be alert, careful and competent in their work habits.
15) Assist with Trails and Open Space events, including interpretive programs, habitat restoration, and trail maintenance as time permits.
16) Other duties as assigned and agreed to by City and park Host.

Notification:
