Harris Beach – Yurt Host
S. Oregon Coast
Full hookup site – 50 amp & washer and dryer on site – no fee
Purpose of Volunteer Role: The Yurt Host clean 5-days a week, assists campground operations and improves visitor experience by providing direct service and support to the Yurt program at the park. This assignment works side by side with the Camp Host to cover each other’s duties on days off – selling firewood two nights a week in addition to your daily responsibilities.
General Responsibilities:
· Clean yurt 6-Rustic Yurts – sites by litter picking, clearing firepits of trash, raking grounds of yurt site.
· Clean yurts – Perform general cleaning by wiping down surfaces with approved OPRD safe chemicals, washing walls, cobweb removal, emptying trash, vacuum/sweeping/mopping yurt floors and sweeping decks/ramps.
· Respond to visitor, staff, and volunteer requests in an attentive and respectful manner.
· Assist with Yurt guest check-in and checkout.
· Check campground restrooms in the evenings for messes and restock toilet paper.
· Alert staff to safety issues, repairs needed, facility issues, and major cleaning needs.
· Operate utility vehicles (golf carts, gators, etc.)
· Accomplish tasks using tools including: basic hand and power/battery operated tools, blowers, and trimmers.
· Laundry – mop heads and cleaning rags used for cleaning of the Yurts.
Required Qualifications:
· Be at least 18 years old.
· Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
· Ability to travel on uneven terrain, as well as be stationary for long periods of time.
· Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
Additional Responsibilities, Based on Park Need:
· Support, sell, and restock firewood sales
· Perform substantial seasonal cleaning of facilities.
· General landscaping duties including: pruning, raking, weeding, mowing, and trimming.
Restricted Tasks: (Case by case basis: Needs District Manager and Safety Program Coordinator approval)
· Perform direct registration duties, including using ORMS.
· Performing high hazard tasks as outlined in the volunteers and Safety Sensitive Tasks Procedure, including:
o Operating chainsaws and heavy equipment.
o Servicing large equipment, plumbing, electrical work, and/or welding.
o Working at a height over 6 ft. or excavation deeper than 4 ft.
o Confined space entry
o Exposure to contaminants requiring respiratory protection.
· Hosts may share information on rules and inform visitors, but not enforce or make initial contacts for rule infractions. This task is prohibited and not subject to approval.
