Harris Beach Campground – Camp Host
S. Oregon Coast
Full hook-up site – 50 amp & washer & dryer on site – no fee
Purpose of Volunteer Role: The Campground Host supports park operations by providing excellent customer service to park visitors, selling firewood 5 nights a week, and general campground maintenance. This assignment works side by side with the Yurt Host to cover each other’s days off. Cover Yurt cleaning 2-days a week in addition to daily responsibilities.
General Responsibilities:
· Firewood, fire starters & bike helmets sales daily, keep brochure & doggie bag dispenser stocked.
· Playground area – litter pick and blow.
· Respond to visitor, staff, and volunteer requests in an attentive and respectful manner.
· Assist with campground guest check-in and checkout.
· Provide excellent customer service for park visitors by giving out accurate information about the park, park activities, and the surrounding areas.
· Alert staff to safety issues, repairs needed, facility issues, and major cleaning needs.
· Provide general restroom checks for toilet paper.
· Operate utility vehicles (golf carts, gators, etc.) & accomplish tasks using tools including: basic hand and power/battery operated tools, blowers, and trimmers.
Required Qualifications:
· Be at least 18 years old.
· Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
· Ability to travel on uneven terrain, as well as be stationary for long periods of time.
· Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
Additional Responsibilities, Based on Park Need:
· Provide campground maintenance such as light landscaping, sweeping, and litter pick up.
· General landscaping duties including: pruning, raking, weeding, mowing, and trimming.
Restricted Tasks: (Case by case basis: Needs District Manager and Safety Program Coordinator approval)
· Perform direct registration duties, including using ORMS.
· Performing high hazard tasks as outlined in the volunteers and Safety Sensitive Tasks Procedure, including:
o Operating chainsaws and heavy equipment.
o Servicing large equipment, plumbing, electrical work, and/or welding.
o Working at a height over 6 ft. or excavation deeper than 4 ft.
o Confined space entry
o Exposure to contaminants requiring respiratory protection.
· Hosts may share information on rules and inform visitors, but not enforce or make initial contacts for rule infractions. This task is prohibited and not subject to approval.
