Description
Battle Ridge Campground, elevation 6,500 feet, is located 23 miles north of Bozeman via MT Hwy 86. The campground has 12 sites. It is a fee site with a $10 per night cost and is first come/first serve only with no reservations. Moose, deer, elk, grizzly bears, black bears, and mountain lions are just a few of the species in this area. Restrooms, fire rings, picnic tables, and tent pads are provided to the public at the campground. There is also a small day use area at the site with fire rings and picnic tables. Battle Ridge Campground lies just across the road from the Battle Ridge Trailhead.
Duties- Volunteer campground hosts are front-line representatives of the United States Forest Service. Few Forest Service employees have as much direct daily contact with members of the public as a volunteer campground host. Volunteer service is greatly appreciated! General duties include:
- Being a courteous and friendly host to forest visitors
- Providing information to visitors including notifying visitors of the rules and regulations
- Maintaining the campground and picnic site to standard
- Monitoring fee compliance
- Ensuring positive working relationships with recreators
Qualifications – The Ranger District would like hosts to serve from May 25th through September 15th of 2020. Campground hosts are expected to be on site five days a week, usually Thursday through Monday with at least two scheduled days off (which are typically Tuesday and Wednesday). 3-5 hours per day/20-30 hours per week is a typical work schedule. We are flexible with the schedule, and we encourage our volunteers to enjoy the amazing location and beautiful area.
Hosts must be comfortable speaking with the public and providing visitor information. A positive, friendly attitude is a must. Hosts also need to be capable of performing basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning outhouses, painting, mowing, weed eating, and shoveling out fire rings.
The Forest Service provides a free RV pad for our hosts (sewer connection, water, propane).
