JOB DESCRIPTOIN:
This is a full time 40-hours per week volunteer position. The incumbent must furnish his or her own trailer or RV under 40’ in length and live in the assigned campground.
We are seeking a Campground Host (single or a couple) to provide visitor information and help maintain the campground and facilities. Duties include performing facility maintenance such as sweeping, cleaning/stocking the 2 vault toilets, emptying trash, staining, weed eating and lawn care. Additionally, the host will maintain visitor information such as brochures, inform visitors of campground rules, and maintain a record of use at the campground. These duties are expected to be performed Thursday through Monday from 10 am to 6 pm.
Emerald Creek Campground features 18 camp units, potable water (by hand pump), and 3 vault toilets. A short distance from the campground is The Emerald Creek Garnet Area which is one of our most popular recreation sites. With a reservation forest visitors can dig for gem-quality star garnets, which can only be found in two places in the world, here and India. The campground is located on the St. Joe Ranger District, and approximately 45 minutes South of St. Maries, Idaho in the Idaho Panhandle National Forests.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed for volunteer time and duties. Training will be provided to complete tasks to Forest Service maintenance and safety standards.
