JOB DESCRIPTOIN:
This is a full time 40-hours per week volunteer position. The incumbent must furnish his or her own trailer or RV under 40’ in length and live in the assigned campground.
We are seeking a Campground Host (single or a couple) to provide visitor information, monitor use at an adjacent developed trailhead, and help maintain the campground and facilities in the Big Creek Campground. Duties include performing facility maintenance such as sweeping, cleaning/stocking the 2 vault toilets, emptying trash, staining, and periodically checking on the developed trailhead located approximately 2 miles away. Additionally, the host will maintain visitor information such as brochures, inform visitors of campground rules, and maintain a record of use at the campground. These duties are expected to be performed Thursday through Monday from 10 am to 6 pm.
Big Creek Campground features 9 camp units, potable water (by hand pump), and 2 vault toilets. Big Creek has a rich history from the 1910 Fire, and the logging industry that followed. It also features superb fishing, over 80 miles of National Recreation Trails single-track motorized and non-motorized, & abundant huckleberry picking. Big Creek is located approximately 27 miles East of St. Maries, Idaho, and is a part of the St. Joe Ranger District on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed for volunteer time and duties. Training will be provided to complete tasks to Forest Service maintenance and safety standards.
