Do you have general maintenance experience? Are you eager to help care for your public lands? If the answer is a resounding yes, then join our team of amazing volunteers and spend your summer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in Oregon’s beautiful Willamette Valley!
USACE-Willamette Valley Project is now recruiting maintenance volunteers (singles or 2-person teams) to join our Recreational Operations team for Summer 2024. Our maintenance volunteers reside in Schwarz Campground, located just below Dorena Dam along the Row River. Maintenance volunteers will spend most of their time volunteering around Dorena and Cottage Grove Lakes with opportunities to work at other lakes on the project.
Maintenance duties include painting, general maintenance, operating small engine equipment (leaf blower, weed trimmer, etc.), maintaining trails, tree pruning, and park beautification, along with performing other various duties (no toilet cleaning!). Tasks available to fit your interests and skills.
Volunteers will be provided a campsite at Schwarz Campground with full-service hookups in exchange for 20-30 hours of work per week. Free laundry facility is available on site as well. Position runs mid-April through mid-September.
Dorena Reservoir and Schwarz Campground is set in the gentle, rolling hills of the Calapooya Mountains, less than 10 miles from the quaint town of Cottage Grove. Dorena Reservoir is a great location for boating, water skiing, fishing, and swimming. Nearby Baker Bay County Park offers a boat ramp and marina.
Campground host positions may also be available at Pine Meadows Campground located along the shores of Cottage Grove Reservoir.
Alcohol is prohibited at all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lands and lease areas at Dorena and Cottage Grove reservoirs, including Schwarz and Pine Meadows campgrounds.
