Job Description
Teton County, Idaho Seeks Volunteer Campground Host
Summer, 2024
Teton County is seeking an RV-based camp host to monitor overnight visitor use at a camping and access site on the banks of the Teton River, located in scenic Teton Valley, Idaho. Couples are encouraged to apply. The site is owned by Idaho Fish & Game, but the camp host is supervised by Teton County. This is a primitive, open site with stunning views of the Teton Range. The presence of the camp host is primarily intended to discourage long-term or residential camping.
The host will inform campers of the 10-day camping limit, track their length of stay, and notify Idaho Fish & Game law enforcement officers when campers exceed the stay limit. This is not a pay site, so there are no fee collection duties.
Location: Rainey Bridge access site on the Teton River (locally known as “The Big Eddy”), approximately 5 miles west of Driggs, Idaho.
Duration: Seasonal, June 1 through September 2, 2024
Compensation: Propane supplied for the season, along with a $30/day stipend.
RV Hookups: None. Ground-mounted supplemental solar panel is available. Nearby vault toilet can be used for waste disposal.
Requirements: Volunteer (single person or couple) must be over 21 years of age and supply their own self-contained recreational camping vehicle. Must establish RV presence throughout the duration of the season and maintain a daily record of overnight campers at the site. Must be willing to report code violations and work with Idaho Fish & Game law enforcement officers and the Teton County Sheriff Department, if necessary.
