Camp Worker / Host
Job Description
We will review applications as they are received- the position is open until filled.
Hourly Range for this position is $15.93 – $23.89 based on experience.
This position will work an estimated 30 hours/week from April 26 through October 21.
On-Site hours will be the following with some flexibility available:
Mondays – 11AM-4PM
Thursdays – 1PM-6PM
Fridays – 12PM-7PM and 9PM-10PM
Saturdays – 10AM-5PM and 9PM-10PM
Sundays – 11AM-3PM
This position is expected to camp on-site and will receive a free campsite throughout the season.
Position Summary
The Campground Host is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to McLeod County Park guests. Hosts must be self-driven, able to work independently, and enjoy interacting with campers to ensure a positive experience. The Camp host is expected to work during the weekends and holidays throughout the camping season.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties listed are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Position Duties
- Provide high-quality customer service to ensure visitors receive accurate and appropriate information in a welcoming, inclusive, and timely manner.
- Greet and interact with visitors at assigned locations and facilities.
- Facilitate camper check-in processes as needed.
- Inform visitors of park procedures and policies.
- Provide information about park facilities and regional attractions.
- Provide support in the campground operation in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and the rules established by the McLeod County Parks Division.
- Responsively provide custodial support, including campsites and restrooms, and notify Parks maintenance of facility repair, maintenance, and supply needs.
- Ensure the safety and security of the campground facility.
- Work with Parks staff to educate visitors about the Park Ordinance.
- Notify and work with local law enforcement when necessary.
- Comply with all campground and park policies and procedures established by McLeod County Parks.
- Operate hand tools, and other mechanical devices safely.
- Perform other related duties as apparent or assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Certifications/Licenses
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license with proof of insurance.
Desired Qualifications
- Customer service experience.
- Personal use of parks & campgrounds.
- Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
- Some knowledge of park operation and maintenance practices.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
- Desk work involving the use of a computer, telephone, and other devices.
- Communicate effectively with County staff and the public.
- Ability to read screens and documents.
- Ability to drive in various light and weather conditions.
- Ability to type and use a computer or mobile device.
- Lift and carry material weighing up to 50 pounds.
