Applicants must reside in their own trailer/RV. Park housing is not available. Cedar Breaks National Monument is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated campground host to help us with all aspects of our campground operation in Summer 2020. Cedar Breaks is known for spectacular geology, dark night skies, and beautiful fields of summer wildflowers. Come work with a fun and enthusiastic team at 10,000 feet in the mountains of Southern Utah! POSITION DESCRIPTION: Point Supreme Campground at Cedar Breaks NM is generally open from early-June through mid-September (exact dates depend on snow & weather condtions). The campground has 25 sites, 15 of which are available for reservation via Recreation.gov while the other 10 are available on a first come-first served basis. There is a self-pay station at the entrance of the campground. Running water, showers and flush toilets are available for campers. The park provides and pays all utility costs for camp hosts hookups (water, sewer, electricity, propane) and is able to reimburse for other expenses related to position duties. Cedar Breaks campground hosts are responsible for greeting visitors professionally and courteously and orienting visitors to the campground and the services and facilities available in the park. They assist campers in finding and securing a campsite, registering properly, and understanding campground rules and regulations. Hosts are responsible for posting reservations for the 15 sites listed on the reservation system Recreation.gov. Daily custodial duties in the campground are also a part of the hosts morning duties. The campground host patrols the campground frequently to ensure compliance with campground rules and regulations, resolve minor disputes, and determine campsite availability. Interested volunteers also have the opportunity to get involved with other park programs including interpretation & education, visitor center & information desk, maintenance, resource management projects and special park events. Campground hosts are required to wear a volunteer uniform. A uniform shirt, nametag, hat and jacket will be provided by the park. Dark colored pants and closed toed shoes are to be provided by the volunteer. Cedar Breaks will also supply hosts with a park radio for communication. Cell phone service is limited in the campground, but can usually be obtained at other nearby points in the park. Required number of hours per week: 32 Required shifts: Evening, weekend and holiday work may be required. Dates: We are currently seeking a camphost to work from roughly mid June – late September. Campground closing date is subject to change based on weather conditions. LOCATION: Cedar Breaks is located about 22 miles east of Cedar City, UT, about 70 miles north of Zion National Park, and about 60 miles west of Bryce Canyon National Park. The park features a spectacular geologic amphitheater more than three miles across and over 2500 feet deep. The visitor center, campground, hiking trails, employee housing and the accessible portions of the park are over 10,000 feet in elevation. Yearly visitation averages 550,000 people. Average high temperatures in the Summer (June – September) ranger from 60-70 degrees, while lows range from 34-42 degrees. Sub-freezing temperatures and snow are possible at any time of year and summer thunderstorms are common.
