JOB DESCRIPTION:
Join the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service volunteer team at the Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery Visitor/Environmental Education Center! We are currently seeking 2-person teams to help staff our Center and assist in our outreach activities for April 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025.
Duties include: meeting/greeting public; answering questions; fielding phone calls; performing majority of cleaning (including center restrooms) & minor maintenance; leading tours and helping with field trips; caring for live animals; operating center gift shop; issuing hunting/fishing licenses; stocking/tracking/brochures; helping plan/prepare special events, workshops and outreach programs.
In exchange for an average of 20-24 hours/person/week, work camper volunteers receive a full hook up (FHU) deluxe campsite– level gravel lot, picnic table, fire ring; 50-30 amp service, water and sewer hook ups. Onsite laundry and WiFI (booster may be needed depending on how your camper is made). Complimentary propane offered during winter months.
Campsites back up to Hatchery Creek, a trout stream that is stocked every other day with rainbow trout, great for people loving to fish, or wanting to learn to fish! The area is beautiful in all seasons, and within a day’s driving distance to Louisville, Lexington, and Nashville. Many of our campers use this opportunity to explore the sights and landmarks in the Kentucky/Tennessee area.
