ADDRESS: 2155 West Forest Street Brigham City, Utah, 84302
DATES: 10/1/2024 – 12/14/2024
DEPT: Fish & Wildlife Service
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Swan Check Park Ranger is a volunteer dedicated to helping the Refuge run Swan Checks for the state of Utah during the swan hunt season, typically October-mid-December. Hunters must check swans within 3 days of harvesting. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources uses the information to track hunting success and the number of harvested Trumpeter swans. The Utah swan season ends when the federal quota of Trumpeter swans has been harvested. The Swan Check Park Ranger will be trained by Refuge staff to identify Trumpeter vs. Tundra swans. Checks will likely occur on Fridays and Saturdays for 8-10 hours/day, shorter shifts may be available dependent on volunteer recruitment. RV pad access is available for this position if volunteering a minimum 20 hours/week. The pad has hookups for water, power, Wi-Fi, and sewage, as well as free access to laundry machines.
