Job Description
The Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest in southern Oregon is looking for a day-use area host to maintain Mckee Bridge Recreation Area.
- Responsibilities: Restroom Clean up: Inspect and clean toilets. Re-stock toilet paper when needed. Scrub toilets and floor when needed. Clean walls as needed. Garbage Collection: Inspect garbage receptacles, empty when full, dumpster is on site. Check recreation area for litter. Remove cold ashes from fire pits. Rake up site as time permits. Water: Monitor water system and chlorine levels. Gates: Lock up gates at dusk and open gates at dawn.
- What does the Forest Service Provide: An RV site with full hookups to include water, sewer, electrical, wireless internet and reimbursement for propane usage. The Nearest towns are Ruch and Jacksonville, OR.
- A little about Mckee Bridge Day Use Area
The day use area provides access to the Applegate River, where people enjoy fishing, wading, and swimming. Much of the day-use area is flat and easily accessed, except for the steps down to the river.
Situated along the rocky banks of the Applegate River, the McKee Bridge Community Kitchen is a fantastic day-use picnic shelter and registered National Historic Site. The shelter is constructed with large pine timber and features Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) masonry, including a beautiful stone fireplace. Groups often reserve McKee Community Kitchen when holding a wedding ceremony on the neighboring historic covered bridge. Located in southwest Oregon in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest at an elevation of 1,600 feet, nearby attractions include volcanic peaks, scenic rivers, wilderness areas, and fantastic old-growth forests.
