Job Description

INTRODUCTION

This volunteer position falls under the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Department Community Recreation division for Naval Air Station Lemoore.  The purpose of this volunteer position is to provide hosting duties onsite at the Ellyson Recreational Vehicle (RV) Park.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Acts as liaison between patrons and staff.  Greets and assists visitors, provides registration assistance, answers questions and explains regulations. Views Arrival list and In-house report(s). May assist campers in locating their assigned campsite. Camp Hosts does not assign tasks/duties to other patrons. Maintains/updates park bulletin board. Maintains and distributes information on local points of interest and locations of/directions to services helpful to campers:  base map noting facilities for authorized users, community urgent care centers, towing/auto/RV repair, groceries, pharmacies, churches, tourist attractions and local events.

Performs light maintenance work around the Park such as litter pickup, cleaning as needed, sweeping and stocking of restrooms.  Assist groundskeeper(s) if applicable with basic grounds responsibilities.  Presents written reports to Park Management including complaints/criticism of park facilities, cleanliness /maintenance issues.  Reports all problems, i.e. lack of cleanliness of restrooms, maintenance issues, grounds issues, hazards to park staff and/or Park Management as applicable.

Reports all minor disturbances/violations to park staff.  Informs campers of rules and regulations, but does not attempt to cite, discipline or apprehend any park violators.  Reports any potential criminal behavior immediately to base security.

Sets the example as a model camper by practicing good housekeeping at all times around their assigned site, and by observing all rules and regulations.  The host must demonstrate positive customer service skills, be able to deal with patrons who are unhappy or angry and provide information for resolution in a calm manner.  Must be able to handle basic paperwork, provide information, and refer campers appropriately.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

·         Must be 18 years of age or older

·         Must NOT be Armed Forces Active Duty or a military dependent thereof

·         Must be military-affiliated with proper base identification credentials

·         Must be able to pass a federal background investigation

·         Must have a valid, state-issued driver’s license

·         Must have their own RV or camper and carry proper insurance for

·         May not have more than two (2) occupants total in RV, including self

·         Must be able to volunteer five (5) consecutive days with two (2) consecutive days off providing on-call evening and weekend assistance to the park. Approximately 31 hours per week.

·         Must have strong customer service experience

·         Must be able to pass park-provided First-Aid/CPR Training

·         Must be able to work primarily outdoors

·         Must be able to lift 40 pounds unassisted

·         Must be able to frequently walk on uneven terrain

·         Must be able to complete other park-provided training as necessary
