Job Description
Why Volunteer at Ash Meadows NWR?
A Fall at Ash Meadows provides your lodging, recreational, and professional-development needs.
Inspire Visitors to Conserve Endangered Species
The Visitor Experience Assistant typically dedicates 24-hours a week to facilitating positive, memorable, and meaningful connections between visitors and the refuge’s plants, animals, and water.
However, our visitor center is currently closed, and we are uncertain at what time the visitor center will re-open. Prior to re-opening, visitor center hosts may have less than 24-hours of duties per week, and may focus primarily on cleaning, maintenance projects, administrative duties, and assistance with digital and youth storytelling programs.
We follow the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) protocols to reduce the spread of COVID-19, which means that all staff and volunteers are required to maintain a social distance of six feet, practice good hygiene, and wear a face mask and nitrile gloves in shared indoor spaces. We ask that volunteers also be flexible and alert to changes in response to COVID-19.

Side projects for interested volunteers may include indoor projects such as data entry, filing, and other administrative tasks or outdoor projects such as assisting habitat restoration projects or light maintenance duties.
Comply with volunteer uniform policy. Maintain a neat and professional appearance. Please submit volunteer resume with at least three professional references.
