FROM: https://www.volunteer.gov/s/volunteer-opportunity/a09SJ00000Fa8T3

ADDRESS: 21424 North Fraser Street  Georgetown, South Carolina, 29440

DATES: 2025-09-01

DEPT: Fish & Wildlife Service

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge spans over 37,000 acres in South Carolina’s lowcountry. It is a 30 minute drive from Myrtle Beach and some of the most beautiful beaches along the eastern coast and is surrounded by beautiful blackwater rivers and streams. The refuge supports the “big 6”, (hunting, fishing, environmental education, interpretation, photography and wildlife observation) and we have visitors from all over the globe. Volunteers are needed to help staff the visitor center.

As a volunteer, you’ll primarily hand out brochures, answer the phones, give directions, help with setup and facilitation of special events and programs, assist with feeding animals, and help visitors make the most of their visit. In addition, you’ll be selling items for the Friends of Coastal South Carolina by ringing up purchases and occasionally restocking the gift shop.

Volunteers are responsible for general upkeep and grounds maintenance including grass mowing with riding mower, leaf blowers, & trimmers.

We ask for 24 hours per week per person in exchange for full RV hookups (water, sewer, 20/30/50 amp power). We also ask for at-least a 3-month commitment.
