Camp Host

Camp Host volunteers provide services in partnership with Park Staff, and provide a readily available, hospitable presence in campgrounds and parks.

Minimum requirements:
– 18 years of age or older
– Apply and Register as a Long-term volunteer
– Participate in an informal interview
– Successfully pass a Live Scan background check provided by the County
– Available 5 days a week including most weekends and holidays to assist with volunteer duties as assigned
– Provide own RV or 5th wheel, along with applicable tow vehicle
– Possess a valid Driver’s License, current vehicle registration, and current vehicle insurance that meets the minimum State of California insurance requirements
– Adhere to all County and Parks & Recreation Department Policies and Procedures, including the Volunteer Program Guidelines and Camp Host Guidelines
– Wear Department-issued designated volunteer uniform while performing volunteer service

Required training/onboarding steps:
– Complete Outside Employment/Incompatible Activities Form (prior to appointment)
– Complete Live Scan background check (prior to appointment) provided by the County
– Complete site orientation training upon initial appointment provided by Park staff
– Complete Sexual Harrassment Prevention training provided by the County within 30 days of appointment
– Complete County drivers training provided by the County within 30 days of appointment (at sites where required)
– Complete First Aid/CPR/AED training provided by the County within four months of appointment
– Complete additional training as required

Volunteer Camp Host terms are for three months. Extensions may be granted on a case-by-case basis for additional terms for up to a maximum of three years.

Hosts are permitted up to three co-occupants and two pets in their RV as long as they are approved and noted on their License Agreement with the County.
