Boat Ramp Attendant
Location: St. Marks River Boat Ramp, St. Marks, FL
Position Type: Part-Time
Compensation: $300 Monthly Stipend + RV/Converted Bus Site with Utilities
Position Overview:
The City of St. Marks is seeking a dedicated and personable individual to serve as a Volunteer Resident Boat Ramp Attendant at the St. Marks River Boat Ramp. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work, interacting with the public, and ensuring the smooth operation of recreational facilities. The position offers the unique benefit of residing on-site in your own RV or converted bus, with utilities provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist boaters and visitors, providing information about ramp usage, safety protocols, and local regulations.
Collect and manage boat ramp fees; issue passes and monitor compliance.
Oversee parking areas to ensure efficient use of trailer spaces and safe traffic flow.
Perform light maintenance tasks, including trash removal, restroom upkeep, dock tidying, and basic landscape upkeep including mowing and weed eating.
Monitor for safety issues or unauthorized activities, report incidents to appropriate authorities. Help monitor security camera system with the City Manager & Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.
Maintain accurate daily logs of pass sales, fees collected, and any incidents.
Ensure the pavilion area is tidy and well-maintained for park reservations and other scheduled events.
Report site deficiencies and maintenance needs to the City Manager in a timely manner.
Provide boaters and visitors with basic city history and information about local restaurants and services available in the business district.
Assist with basic maintenance and landscape upkeep around the boat ramp area, ensuring the space remains clean and welcoming.
Maintain awareness of boat ramp activities to ensure a secure environment.
Qualifications:
Must own and maintain a clean, self-contained RV or converted bus suitable for on-site living.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to perform light manual labor, including landscape upkeep, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Knowledge of OSHA best practices and protocols regarding heat stress and machinery use.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
Basic knowledge of boating safety, trailer parking, and landscape maintenance is preferred.
Schedule:
Flexibility to adjust hours based on demand. Minimum 26 hours required per week.
Compensation & Benefits:
$300 monthly stipend.
Full-hookup RV site (water, sewer, electric, garbage) for the duration of agreement.
