JOB DESCRIPTION:
Spend the summer on beautiful Hartwell Lake situated on the border between northeast Georgia and upstate South Carolina. The US Army Corps of Engineers at Hartwell Lake is seeking an outgoing and active couple to serve as Gate House Attendants for the spring/summer 2026 season at Elrod Ferry Day Use Area in Hartwell Georgia. Position available May 3, 2026, and runs through September 7, 2026. Hours are 10am-5pm Saturday-Sunday and major holidays (May 25, July 3, Sept 7). Duties include staffing gatehouse, greeting visitors, ensuring payment of entrance fee at fee machine, answer questions concerning park rules/regulation and general lake information, and share message of water safety. In exchange for 35 hours of service per week per couple, volunteers are provided “top of the line” free full hook-up campsite in the volunteer village. Volunteers must provide their own self-contained hard-sided RV.
