JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Description:
The North River Ranger District is seeking volunteers to serve as Campground Host(s) at North River Campground, a quiet and scenic site nestled along the North River in Augusta County, Virginia. Hosts help ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming experience for all visitors.
North River Campground features:
9 peaceful campsites surrounded by forest and flowing water
Proximity to popular trails and recreation areas including:
Wild Oak National Recreation Trail
Staunton Dam Day Use Area
Elkhorn Lake
Located approximately 45 minutes from Harrisonburg, near the town of Stokesville
Limited cell service
Duties:
Greet and assist campers and day-use visitors
Provide information about the site and nearby recreation
Monitor facilities and report maintenance needs
Light cleaning and restocking of vault toilets and common areas
Support campground operations Friday through Sunday (we are flexible with availability!)
Qualifications:
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and represent the Forest Service professionally
Must provide own self-contained RV or trailer (tents not suitable for extended stay)
Comfortable living off-grid with no running water
