Job Description
Classification: Part Time, On-Call
Reports to: Owner / General Manager
Supervises: No employee supervision required
Hours: 7:00pm to 10:00pm on call overnight
Salary Range: $18/hour
The Night Host is the face of the campground after hours. The primary responsibility is to ensure guests comply with the campground policies, while fostering a welcoming, fun and peaceful environment for all guests. Must possess exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills. Ensure guests have a positive experience. Position allows employee to rent a RV site at camp at a significant discounted rate, $580/month, including utilities, trailer or motorhome not included.
Duties/Responsibilities
Provide a point-of-contact for guests after the office closes by verifying the campground phone is transferred to the appropriate number so that calls make it through
Provide assistance in an emergency as described in the Emergency Preparedness Plan Rent campsites to walk-in campers (when and if available)
Greet and direct guests to assigned sites when required
Record guest comments or complaints, referring customers to supervisors / owner as necessary
Regularly patrol / walk throughout the campground to enforce policies and to perform the tasks as outlined on the “Campground Patrolling Procedures” document
Close up the campground facilities as outlined in the “Night Host Daily Check List” document and corresponding electronic system
Answer telephone calls placed to the after-hours extension from the time the store/office closes until it opens in the morning. This is for guests that have immediate needs or noise complaints, not general business or reservations.
Requirements/Qualifications
You must be able to walk on paved and uneven terrain throughout the campground (in order to access sites that are not accessible via motorized transport), to see, to hear and to lift up-to 40 lbs. of weight
Work well unsupervised with ability to independently make decisions and take appropriate action based on campground policies and procedures
Provide excellent customer service skills
Manage your time efficiently to complete the tasks assigned to a high standard within the allotted timeframe
Ability to maintain a professional appearance and interact positively with guests
Must maintain a professional manner under stress and have excellent communication skills
Meticulous, conscientious, reliable, honest, friendly
Understanding of campground best practices and relevant laws and guidelines
Weekends included scheduling works on a rotating basis
3 month probationary period with the opportunity to extend
Hours
Night Hosts typically work alternating 2-3-day shifts (i.e. 2 on / 2 off), but shifts are subject to change based on operational requirements. Shifts are scheduled and approved by the Supervisor in charge of scheduling.
A typical shift is as follows (this is for reference only and is subject to change based on operational requirements):
“Active Patrol” of Campground: 7:00pm-10:00pm, “On-Call” phone from close of office until the office opens in the morning.
“Active Patrol” of the campground requires you to be on-site and performing the tasks on the “Campground Patrolling Procedures” and “Night Host Daily Check List” documents and corresponding electronic system.
“On-Call” is for urgent phone calls to the after-hours extension from the close of the office until it opens the following morning. If a call requires someone to address an issue at camp, the Night Host clocks in and addresses issues. All emergencies should be directed first to 911, then call the Emergency Contact Manager.
