JOB DESCRIPTION:

The park host will perform the following duties in the Campground and at other locations around the project as agreed to by the volunteer and the Corps. Campsite with full hook ups provided in exchange for 24 – 32 hours service per week.

Duties

Volunteer shall operate Recreation One Stop (R1S) computer and website to manage reservations within the campground. Be present in the campground to answer questions, provide information about available campsites, and hand out information to the visitors. The schedule for these services are outlined in the opportunity.
Perform campground status checks. Monitor campsite availability. Process check-ins, check-outs and modify reservations. Wappapello Lake campgrounds accept payment by card only, cash and checks will not be accepted. Provide requested report printouts to Corps Staff including onsite reports, daily arrival reports, and overdue checkouts.
Perform inspections of the campground and campground facilities to check for safety hazards or maintenance deficiencies and report the problems to the Wappapello Lake Project Office.
Place out of order signs on restroom facilities when a problem occurs that cannot be corrected immediately. If the problem is severe, the volunteer will close and lock the facility.
Assist Corps staff with removing fallen limbs and litter in the campground and nearby day use areas after storm damage if needed.
Inform visitors of campground policies and procedures, rules and regulations (Title 36 brochure). Report any major Title 36 violations to on-duty Park Rangers or the Wappapello Lake Project Office. Volunteers will NOT do any enforcement.
Report any emergency, vandalism or suspicious activities to on-duty Park Rangers, the Wappapello Lake Project Office or the County Sheriff Office.
Open gates and restrooms for day-use facilities as requested by the Corps.
Conduct Customer Satisfaction Surveys as requested by the Corps.
Other Duties
The park host may be assigned other duties at Wappapello Lake as agreed to by Wappapello Lake staff and the park host.

 

Work Schedule – Total work hours will be approximately 24 – 32 hours per week, working four days on followed by four days off.

 

Campground Duties – 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The park host should be available in the park to assist park visitors prior to the campground entrance station opening. The park host should also perform campground and/or facility inspections during this time.

 

Entrance Station Duties – 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The park host will staff the entrance station.
