JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a non-paying, volunteer position, however, a full hookup campsite is provided for the volunteer while staffing the position. Volunteer must provide their own RV/camper for housing as well as a vehicle or UTV/ATV/golf cart capable of hauling trash, ash buckets, etc., during rounds. Work schedule requires volunteers to work 24-25 hours per week depending on volunteer staffing at the campground.

 

The Park Attendant position is a volunteer duty position in our campgrounds. Park Attendants are expected to staff the booth at the park’s entry during booth hours, conduct rounds periodically, check campers in and out utilizing the Recreation.gov online system, exchange receipts from fee kiosks for annual passes, clean up any sites that may have been left in disarray in parks where a Campsite Cleaner volunteer is not employed or not on duty, provide information to visitors on park rules and regulations, and generally be a welcoming, friendly presence in our parks.

 

In parks where only one park attendant is staffed, volunteers will be expected to work 25 hours a week, Thursday through Monday. They will conduct a morning round for an hour around 8:00am to catch visitors who may have arrived after booth hours or left early, and conduct rounds and staff the booth from 2:00-6:00pm.

 

In parks where two park attendants are staffed, volunteers will alternate 4 days on and 4 days off for a total of 24 hours a week. They will conduct a morning round for an hour around 8:00am to catch visitors who may have arrived after booth hours or left early, and conduct rounds and staff the booth from 2:00-7:00pm.

 

Volunteer will need the ability to walk on unleveled terrain, carry up to 20 lbs., and bend over frequently. Must be able to use basic maintenance hand tools such as a push broom, trash grabber, leaf blower, shovel and bucket, etc. Must be able to operate the Recreation.gov reservation website with training. Must posses a vehicle (road vehicle/UTV/ATV/golf cart) capable of hauling trash to dumpsters and ash bucket to disposal points as needed.
