JOB DESCRIPTION:

Location: Ocoee-Hiwassee Ranger District, Cherokee National Forest

The Ocoee-Hiwassee Ranger District is currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to serve as campground hosts at Parksville RV Campground, a popular destination nestled near the scenic Parksville Lake. This opportunity is ideal for individuals or couples who enjoy the outdoors and are passionate about providing exceptional visitor experiences.

Campground Overview:

  • Located on both sides of Highway 30, the campground includes:
    • RV Section: 16 shaded, well-spaced electric sites accommodating large RVs, campers, and tents
    • Tent/Group Section: 24 non-electric sites with tent pads, central fire rings, pedestal grills, and picnic tables
  • Water hydrants are dispersed throughout the campground
  • Each RV site includes electricity; a dump station is available
  • Bathhouses feature warm water and flush toilets
  • Amenities include grills, picnic tables, and lantern posts

Host Requirements:

  • Volunteers must provide their own housing (RV or camper) and transportation
  • Hosts will be tasked with Cleaning (restrooms, firepits, litter), light maintenance, visitor support, and general oversight of the campground

Recreation Highlights:

  • Convenient access to the Ocoee River and Parksville Lake beaches and boat ramps
  • Nearby whitewater rafting, mountain biking, and hiking trails
  • Ideal base for day trips throughout the Cherokee National Forest

Directions:

From the Ocoee Ranger Station, turn left onto Highway 64. Travel approximately 2.2 miles to Highway 30, then turn left. The campground is located 0.2 miles ahead on both sides of Highway 30.
